Left Coast R&D is a Santa Cruz, CA based research and development firm. Founded by Dr Einar Vollset in 2009, we specialize in rapid prototyping of software targeted at mobile (particularly iPhone and iPad) consumer, but also have deep technical background in architecting and developing large scale distributed and cloud systems.

In our founding year our clients included amongst others; General Motors – the US’ largest and world’s second largest automaker and Greenplum – a leading provider of data warehousing and analytics software.

Founder Bio:

Dr Einar Vollset spent 2 years as a visiting professor of Computer Science at Cornell University. His research interests are in distributed and mobile systems. He co-founded ReMail, a startup funded by YCombinator, and subsequently acquired by Google.
His PhD thesis was published as one of the top 5 PhDs in the UK in 2005. He’s trying to learn how to surf, and enjoys writing about himself in the third person.
